Let Down

Accident this, unfortunate coincidence that.
I move on along, you just stay put.
Pulling the strings, pushing me away.
One step forward, and another one back.
Getting nowhere, opposites don't attract.

Plans fall apart,
everything goes wrong.
Petty excuses formulate,
nothing is ever right.

At the end of the day,
I'm not sure what you value,
anymore.

And frankly, I'm tired of it.
Cause when push comes to shove,
you're always just a let down.

  1. :( Very sad and moving. I think in some places the phrasing/rhyme? is awkward but otherwise I really like it ^-^ Is it based off something that happened in real life? =/

  2. Oh, I definitely agree!! The first stanza-ish thing especially is super awkward. But I really wanted each line in it. And it just so worked out that some lines sort of sounded like they rhymed, but then not really, which makes the whole thing even more awkward. :P
I kind of cranked this one out in a few minutes, so it's definitely rough-sounding. I may try to go back in fix it later on.

And to your second question: To be honest, almost all of these poems, especially the one's labelled "self inspired" are off of something that has happened recently, but I exaggerate and dramatize them GREATLYYY. But that's almost how every poem out there is. So, in the moment I was writing this I was experiencing a great sense of disappointment in someone, but it really was no biggie of a let down issue. So, there you have it. :)

  3. :) Writing is definitely a good release for those kinds of frustrations ^-^ I normally write rants/prose ish things but the same thing does occur with me likewise, so I am totally 100% with you!

Actually, I don't mind the half rhymes at all, I think they work very well with the poem-- what I was thinking of was perhaps the length of each line?

  4. Oh for sure! I have actually read several of your posts and loved them, esp. the one about accepting icky circumstances and just getting over it, and basically not whining and other really good points. And I honestly never mind hearing rants. :]

Ohh, yeah. And well, that too. :P Thanks for the feedback, love.
